About the Turtle Island Fish Club
We all need to know who is producing the food we are
eating, the how and where of its harvest. Fishermen need better
markets, and to know where the fruits of their hard and
dangerous labor are enjoyed. Developing the relationships and
infrastructure to overnight deliver wild sustainable seafood not
only creates the avenue for fabulously fresh seafood for you;
but it also rewards the fishermen, fisheries, and fishing
cultures who practice methods that protect our oceans.
Through a partnership that seeks out sustainably managed
fisheries needing better access to markets and provides a direct
connection between fishermen and chefs. The Turtle Island Fish
Club is able to offer you a weekly pick-up from sustainably
managed and harvested wild fisheries.
We have fish coming directly from the boat. Small private
fisherman, with line caught sustainable fish are shipping
over-night, their catch directly to us. Chef David is filleting
the fish and offering it to you for a weekly Friday pick-ups.
For fish from sea to your table within 24 hours. It doesn’t get
much fresher than this.
How does it work
Each Share is $25 per week. with
pick-ups in July, August, and September. (possibly longer if
sufficient interest exists). First pick-up is Friday July 9th
and requires sign-up with first payment by July 2nd.
Payment for the first share is due at sign-up and must be a week
prior to pick-up. Subsequently, each week’s share must be
pre-paid a week prior to pick-up.
The variety of fish will change weekly
and is based on the availability from the fisheries. Typically
you will be provided with information at pick-up about the
weekly fish including cooking tips and/or recipe suggestions.
Your
weekly pick-up will be available on Friday for pick-up between
11 to 7pm. It is provided to you on ice in a cooler to ensure
the freshness of your fish is protected while you transport it
home. Your initial Turtle Island Fish Club Cooler and ice packs
are free, and will be provided at your first pick-up. They need
to be brought back each week. Please note showing up for
pick-up without your cooler & ice packs will result in an
additional $5.00 cooler replacement charge.
Having guests, just let us know at pick-up the number of shares
you need the next week. It is also possible to suspend you
fish club for a week or two with advanced notice; just tell us
at the pick-up when you will be back.
